Lady Luck Sinking

The Lady Luck  formerly known as the Newtown Creek, is a 324' tanker ship that was decommissioned by the City of New York and sold to Shipwreck Park, Inc., a private 501 (C)(3) corporation who has received sponsorship from the City of Pompano Beach and the Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park. SWP is dedicated to creating artificial reefs. South Florida Diving Headquarters has been a part of the conception, planning, and implementation from the very first meeting. Lady Luck will become the most famous snowbird to move to Florida!

About Lady Luck The 324-foot ship renamed Lady Luck will sink, creating a range of diving experiences from 50-120 feet below the surface and about 1.5 miles east of the Pompano Beach Pier in the newly formed "Ship Wreck Park Pompano Beach". The transformed ship will become an underwater habitat: a haven for fish, as well as scuba divers. Prominent Pompano Beach artist Dennis MacDonald is creating a mock underwater casino, complete with poker tables, roulette tables and slot machines on the main deck. This underwater casino will be the largest of its kind in the world. It will be a unique underwater experience and provide many diver photo opportunities with a rotating gallery display of locally produced underwater artwork. The ship will join several other ships already deployed in the area creating opportunities for multi-wreck dives at Ship Wreck Park!

Sinking Day July 23rd, 2016 A comprehensive sink plan has been formulated by Resolve Marine using computer modeling. The ship will be towed from Port Everglades to her underwater condo, anchored and a slow controlled flood will begin. If you would like to join us for this great event to watch the deployment or even be one of the first to dive Lady Luck go to View Schedules and book now before we fill up.
