Dive the Noulla Express - A South Florida Wreck Dive SiteType: Anchor Dive Depth range: 55 ft. - 78 ft. Suggested skill level: Open Water Diver or equivalent experience. Location: Boca Raton Description: The Noulla Express was a Danish freighter 114' long and 23' wide. The bow was broken off in Hurricane Andrew and tilted skyward to the east of the hull. Also the cargo area was flattened and the stern section twisted 40 degrees to the east. A small 1 man submarine that was used by drug smugglers was added to the wreckage and lies underneath the flattened cargo area. The Noulla lies in sand outside the 3rd reef up against a small ledge with small reef patches around it. There are a good number of tropical fish, filefish, and barracuda on this wreck. It's nice to start out on the wreck and then explore the surrounding reef before surfacing. The Noulla is a part of the wreck triangle including the United Caribbean and the Sea Emperor. They are approximately 300' to the west.
History: The Noulla Express was built in 1939 as the Dana Land. She was later sold in 1954 and renamed Trelan then Kormad. After being seized by the federal government in a drug case, the vessel was purchased by a joint committee from the Palm Beach and Broward County reef programs and eventually sank on July 12, 1998.
