Trashy Girls Collective is a local non-profit with the mission to preserve and protect our beaches, oceans, and coral reefs through cleanups and debris removal. Trashy Girls Collective was founded in 2019 in Fort Lauderdale, FL by three women SCUBA divers, helping save the world one bag of trash at a time! All are welcome to attend Trashy Cleanup Dives and clean the reefs with us; the minimum certification requirement is to be Open Water SCUBA certified (*unless specified as Advanced certified only trips), and have been diving in the last 8 months. We include professional guides underwater, along with videographers and photographers. For more info on the TGC and to follow us on social media, click this link.

Check-in time is at 7:30 AM. The boat departs at 8:30 AM.
The price for Trashy Cleanup 2-tank trips is $90, does not include tanks or rental gear, but can be reserved at the dock- prices here.
It is highly advised to use Enriched Air Nitrox tanks on our dives to maximize our time underwater- if you’re not NX certified yet, shoot us a message!

Required equipment to participate in Trashy Cleanup dives are:
– At least one cutting tool (dive knife, shears, line cutter)
– Receptacle for debris collection- We recommend the Trshbg hip bag, which can be purchased in the SFDH dive shop OR lobster hotels, lionfish containment units, or drawstring mesh bags work as well!
– Gloves
– Bring your own reusable water bottle to refill on the boat, along with reef-safe sun protection like a hat, rashguard, and reef-safe sunscreen (discount code ‘letsgettrashy’)

For now, it’s going to remain in front of the shop where you will have the opportunity to take a picture with it while it’s on land and then once we sink it you can recreate the photo but underwater. We are going to be running a contest to see who creates the best picture.

The “South Florida Diving Headquarters Bugfest” is a contest for scuba divers centered around Florida’s annual lobster mini-season.

The contest is on July 30, 2025 (Wednesday) and runs through 6:00 pm. Everyone has a chance to win!

$100.00 for dive trip (Boat trip $90 & $10 entry fee) 

SFDH “Weigh-in”

South Florida Diving Headquarters is hosting weigh-in from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm. The weigh-in station will be set up on the South Dock at the Tiki Hut behind Goliath.

Each diver will receive a raffle ticket. Plus an additional raffle ticket for each lobster you catch. (increase your chances to win-(MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN)

So even if you don’t catch the biggest lobster, you could still go home with a great prize. (MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN)

Mini Lobster Season July 29th-30th, 2026       (SFDH Bugfest on Wednesday 7-29-2026)

Mini Lobster Season is a highly anticipated event every year. If you have never experienced the frenzy you don’t know what you are missing. The State of Florida years ago created a short sportsman season to allow recreational users to catch lobsters prior to traps being deployed and commercial season beginning. This season became known to divers and snorkelers all over the world as “Mini Lobster Season”. Over the years Mini Lobster Season has been modified several times over the years to account for changes in lobster stock assessments. The season lasts 48 hours after which it closes and the regular lobster season opens August 6th – March 31st

South Florida Advantage

In the Florida Keys (Monroe County) the limit per person per day is (6) as opposed to South Florida which is (12) per person per day. South Florida Reefs are not as crowded as the Keys and the hotels do not raise their rates for “Mini Lobster Season”.

Gear you will need:

  • Mask, fins, snorkel (or your dive gear)
  • Tickle stick & net or Lobster Looper
  • Lobster gauge
  • Gloves
  • Catch bag*Remember to put your name on your gear
  • Fishing License & Lobster Stamp

 It is a good rule of thumb to always verify dates and regulations with Florida Fish and Wildlife.
