Horseshoe Reef
Location: Boynton Beach (outer reef)
Description: Horseshoe is shallow than most of the outer reefs in the Boynton area. The top of the reef is 40 - 45 ft and the sand on the western side 50-55 ft. The main ledge meanders in and out and is not as much a straight line and at the north end it hooks and actually heads back south. Along with all the usual marine life found in Florida, schools of spade fish are common here.
Navigation: For a north current it is best to start at the section of the reef that creates a "V" heading back east, for a south current drop on the "Horseshoe" feature on the north end and spend some time there before following the main ledge south.
